Updike's latest design lost some his elegance and regal...-ness??, I always imagined Updike as a more dignified villain who's intimidating because of their position and control, not their actual strength, which is why I don't think the new design works as well.
IMO Updike 4 is his best look, but I can understand not wanting both characters to have similar body types.

the purpose and position of his character changed very drastically. he may have been one of those kinda elegant villains back then but now he's a whole 'nother guy, a protagonist even.
